Carl Operations Supervisor
Hi, my name is Carl Norris and I have lived on the Gold Coast for 14 years.I have ten years experience in the pest control industry. I qualified for my pest control licence in 2010 when I was 21 and have loved my trade ever since.
Hands on experience in this industry is essential but isn’t all you need. This is a heavily regulated industry and requires extensive expertise for termite work and inspections of any property or structure. I constantly refer to and read Industry Codes of Practices, Australian Standards, Pest Control Legislation, Safe Work Practices and so on.
People trust me everyday to inspect their homes and investments for an insect that can cause thousands of dollars in damage. They trust me to spray their houses safely and professionally. Having the confidence in my ability and my work is important to me and my customers. Keeping up with legislation and safe work practices should be important to every Pest Management Technician.
As well as reading the “boring stuff”, I’m a bit of a bookworm. I have a collection of old and new books, encyclopedias on all kinds on insects and research books from the CSIRO.
A couple of my favorite authors are: Denis Julian Crawford. He wrote amongst other books “Garden Pests, Diseases and Good Bugs: The Ultimate Illustrated Guide for Australian Gardeners”. This is an amazing reference guide that I think every gardener should own. Maurice Maeterlinck is another favorite of mine. He is a nobel prize winner who wrote “The life of the bee”, “The life of the white ant” and “The life of the ant” amongst others. These books are a philosophical look at the behaviour of the insects from the point of view of a mature entomologist/ beekeeper written over 100 years ago.
I like to think of myself as a budding entomologist. I feel I have mastered almost every pest on the gold coast. This is thanks to the fascination with insects I have had since i was a kid. The in depth study of insects is the next step for me and in the near future I hope to start my way on the path of an entomology degree.
But in the meantime I can inspect and remedy any pest problems you have. My experience, especially with termites, makes me the ideal person to inspect your property whether you are living in it, have tenants, or looking to buy a new property. Just give me a call on 0436 105 770, or call our office to book in a treatment or inspection on 1300 81 81 33. m
