A chemical termite barrier is a great way of Protecting your home. Chemical termite barriers are created by treating the soil against the foundation or the slab edge of your home.

We offer both non repellent chemical barriers and the older style repellent chemical barrier. Where a repellent chemical barrier has been installed it is recommended that a repellent is used once again. Non repellent chemicals provide the best termite protection.

If no barrier has been installed before or we are renewing a non repellent chemical barrier we use Termidor.PM MM

Our Treatment Process

A PestMen technician will conduct a thorough inspection of your property before we install your chemical barrier.  This is to ensure no Active termites are currently inside your home or business.

If termites are found the technician will carry out a termite treatment, usually a foaming treatment to eradicate the termite nest that is attacking your house.

A trench is then dug down to the foundation or alongside the slab edge of the structure in preparation to apply the termiticide.

Holes are drilled through paths and concrete to allow under slab injection of the soil beneath.

If pavers are present and not concreted in, the pavers will be lifted to allow access to the soil beneath for treatment.  It is recommended in this instance a chemical replenishment pipe is installed for future treatment.

If inadequate soil is around the structure eg. sand or clay, replacement of the soil may be recommended.

A follow up visit is required to check the barrier has “settled”. A minimum of 12 month inspections is always recommended regardless of the protectiona structure may have.

Chemical Barriers

Here at PestMen we can offer a range of products to protect your home against termite attack, where possible we use a non-repellent chemical called Termidor.

Our Technicians are Accredited Termidor Applicators.

The crucial advantage Termidor has over many other products is that it doesn’t repel termites.  Termites are able to detect the older chemicals in the soil and stay away from them.  That means the termites remain active and unaffected, still exploring the area and potentially looking for ways into your home.  Termites can’t detect the treated zone so, as they continue to forage through the soil, they unknowingly come into contact with Termidor.

The genuine Termidor Transfer Effect because affected termites can’t detect Termidor, they carry it back to the nest on their bodies and pass it on to other termites, hence devastating Termidor Transfer Effect.

Termidor can control whole termite populations faster than any other treatment, but it is relatively slow-acting in individual termites.  this means termites have ample time before dying, to spread Termidor to their nest and the entire colony. The combination of Termidor being undetectable in the soil and its Transfer effect mean not other termiticide performs as well as Termidor.

What makes Termidor so effective?  Affected termites transfer termidor to others by contact, grooming and exchange of food.
